The Company

Since its founding in 2014, Morton Development has focused on the growing but under-served community of small-to-medium-sized businesses seeking affordable, quality A-1 industrial space in Deer Valley, currently regarded as one of the most desirable submarkets in the entire Phoenix area.

Morton Development's TTR Industrial Park project, which began construction in August 2016, will feature 14 free-standing industrial buildings and condo units sized from 4,500 to 14,000 square feet, coupled with some of the largest secure private yards available in the area.

The Founder

For over 30 years, Mike Morton has served as President of Accelerated Construction Technologies (ACT), formerly Modular Technology. Under his leadership, the company grew to become Arizona’s largest commercial contractor specializing in Design Build accelerated construction, with annual revenues of $40-50M. ACT projects included over 80 Valley branch banks, as well as complete campuses or classroom additions for nearly every District and Charter school in Arizona.

His innovations at the helm of ACT garnered multiple awards for architectural and technical excellence, including the Arizona Corporate Excellence (ACE) Award for Innovation, the Governor’s Award for Energy Efficiency, and the ACE award for the Top 25 Fastest-Growing Private Companies.

Mike also received the Outstanding Achievement Award for “exemplary contribution and service to the commercial modular buildings industry” from the Modular Building Institute during his tenure as its President. Prior to that, he served for five years on its Board of Directors.

Mike’s pattern of success results from an awareness of local business dynamics, meticulous research, and a gift for creating innovative, affordable ways to address market needs.

In 2013, ACT collaborated with Arizona State University to produce their entry in the U.S Department of Energy’s International Solar Decathlon. ACT donated factory space, engineering expertise, supervision, quality control, and a host of other services to assist in the construction and showcasing of the ASU team entry, dubbed SHADE – Solar Homes Adapted for Desert Equilibrium.

ACT also provided education, leadership and financial support to numerous other Arizona nonprofits, such as the Arizona Association of School Business Officials, the Arizona School Board Association, the Mohave Cooperative and the Arizona Charter School Association.

Most recently, as Founder and President of Morton Development LLC, Mike provides strategic leadership for the company and oversight for all aspects of its operations.
